Rebecca Montgomery

Artist Statement:

In A Climate Change Anxiety Haunted House, she contributed a humorous illustration of a dinosaur holding a sign saying “I didn’t believe in climate change either”. This also happens to be a portrait of her masked friend Paige Whitehead, creator of the Nyoka Light Wand, at the climate change protest in Victoria.

Rebecca, with Proper Measure Ltd.,  also created a 3D Virtual Tour of the entire Haunted House. The temporary nature of this project allows for painting on the walls, an all-are-welcome mentality, a sense of freedom and possibility, and an endless amalgamation of ideas and collaborations. Since the house is being demolished, the impermanence of the art is a catalyst for a radical space of open experimentation. By creating a virtual version, we are also able to play with the juxtaposition of having a permanent 3D rendering of an impermanent creation.
