Artist Statement
The work I have created for this exhibition lies on the exterior 2nd story and hallway meeting area. Which both speak of animals ie “Wolf” and “Bee” which basically are being forced to hide out in their natural dwelling in an effort to survive the pollution and over population of humans and the industry we have created.
Artist Bio
As an artist Michael Johnston has been creating and displaying his work in the city of Winnipeg for the past 19 years. His work has made its way across Canada and reached international recognition through various publications and platforms. His work has been applied and showcased in a multitude of ways. Using outdoor walls, interior walls/spaces, windows, canvases and a variety of other surfaces and grounds. Johnston is a multifaceted artist capable of utilizing different techniques allowing him to expertly achieve an array of styles and applications. His proficiency in painting with aerosol, airbrush and paintbrushes, along with a lifetime of experience gives this artist a powerful talent and voice. His work exhibits great range, utilizing space, stylized letterform, portrait work and colour. For the past 15 years Michael has been working as a tattoo artist in Winnipeg. Michael shines in his painted work, a quality which directly affected his emerging presence as a tattooist, gaining him a large and continuing following. Currently residing In Victoria BC Michael Is now concentrating In painted work.
