Artist Statement:
The Bengal tiger is a powerful and iconic animal that is currently considered endangered. The human-caused climate change crisis threatens to eliminate suitable habitats for the Bengal tiger. The split face of the tiger and its skull is a symbol to empathize the reality of the brutal effects of climate change, that one day iconic animals that have inhabited the globe for generations and that we take for granted today may be gone cause of our actions.
Artist Bio:
I am a visual artist from Sweden, currently based in Vancouver, BC. I work in the film industry as a visual effects artist, creating special effects for movies. I am also a painter, and have completed commissioned works in Sweden, Spain, L.A., Vancouver and Victoria. My primary mediums are acrylics and spray paint. I taught spray painting workshops back in Sweden in the early 2000s, and have been active with murals on and off since then. I also do acrylic work on canvas, but creating public murals is my passion. I enjoy painting murals because they are dynamic - the surrounding space and environment are part of the piece. It's interesting to see how people in the community react to and interact with the work. I also enjoy the process of developing a concept for a client that would fit their business and the surrounding space.
