“Hiding in Plain Sight”

There’s no debating the fact that we’ve let our excessive consumption get the better of us. Our shortsighted desires for comfort and convenience have resulted in a state of environmental collapse, yet we continue to consume at a rate that forces us to live more and more intimately with the unfortunate byproducts of those habits. We are surrounded by trash with no where to escape to.

“Hiding in Plain Sight” is a place to examine the cognitive dissonance we experience when faced with the harsh outcomes of our consumption. Much like the blanket forts we constructed and sought solace in as children, this space provides a safe refuge amongst the very waste we relentlessly try to escape from. Like children, we tend to close our eyes or play pretend when confronted with the impact of our actions. This juxtaposition seeks to challenge this behaviour– and possibly help us grow from it.
